SmartScreen warns about any program it has not seen downloaded many times yet. Nook is new, so it has no download history. It is a reputation notice, not a detection — Windows has not found anything in the file. The warning disappears as more people install it.
The installer is built with Inno Setup, the standard Windows installer runtime, and installs per-user so it never asks for admin rights. Prefer to skip installers entirely? The portable ZIP is the same app — unzip it and run Nook.exe.
